A man has died after being struck by a train near a suburb of Perth, police said on Monday.
The man was found in the city’s east suburb of Southbank, about 30km (19 miles) east of Perth.
Emergency services were called to a train on Monday evening, about 15 minutes before the man’s body was discovered at a station in the south-western suburb, Police said.
He was taken to hospital in critical condition and is being treated for life-threatening injuries.
“Police believe the man was on a train with a trainee on board,” a statement from police said.
“The trainee did not appear to be injured.”
