Microsoft has unveiled a new version and features of its Office 365 suite, including a redesigned calendar, new Outlook email client, and an improved Outlook website.
The announcement was made at a developer conference called Developer Summit in San Francisco, which is the third in a series of developer conferences hosted by Microsoft.
It’s Microsoft’s third time presenting developer-focused developer content in San Diego since it opened its first Developer Summit at Microsoft’s former campus, Redmond, Washington.
Microsoft’s Office 365 software is based on Office for Windows and Office for Mac, and the new version will be a full suite of apps for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android.
The new versions will be available in the coming months.
Microsoft is releasing a set of developer tools that allow developers to customize their Office 365 accounts, a new way to share files, and a unified inbox for Outlook.com, which will be replaced by a unified Outlook email service.
Microsoft says the new Office 365 is the first version of the software to be based on the Office for Android platform.
Microsoft says the Office 365 platform is optimized for cloud computing, which means it will be easier for businesses to store and manage documents across devices, from a desktop to a tablet to a mobile phone.
